Is Your Sprinkler Watering the Inside of Your House?

8/10/2020 (Permalink)

Are you loving your new sprinkler system?  Enjoying the extra time you have to read a book on the back porch, rather than dragging your hose all around the house, watering the flowers, plants, and lawn on a hot summer day?  Sounds good and most of the time it will be good…….but, beware of the leaky sprinkler pipes!  Each summer we receive numerous calls from homeowners that have water leaking into their homes for no apparent reason.  There has not been a storm, a pipe has not broken, the washing machine has not overflowed, yet they have water in their basement and can’t figure out why.  The first question we then ask, is whether they have an underground sprinkler system.  If you have a sprinkler system at your home, make sure to adhere to the guidelines of an annual system check by the sprinkler installation company.  They will come out and check and test your system and are able to detect if the system is operating properly or perhaps has sprung a leak.  Preventative maintenance is the best, and usually cheapest, type of maintenance.  But, should you find yourself with a leaking sprinkler system, which created a wet house, give SERVPRO of Fair Oaks-Centreville-Chantilly a call on (703) 830-5800 and we’ll get you dry and comfortable again in no time!
